Victor Vasareli’s Art in Serbia

Pecuj, Jan. 21, 2010 (Serbia Today) – To mark the fact that Pecuj is this year’s European capital of art, The Embassy of Hungary organized an exhibition of art by famous Victor Vasareli that will be presented in several Serbian cities. Victor Vasareli was born in Pecuj.
The exhibition will be first in Novi Sad at the Museam of Modern Art of Vojvodina from January 22 to February 21. Visitors will be able to see 120 original graphics and 20 objects from the collection of Tibor Cepeiia from Budapest. From there exhibition will move to Belgrade, then Zrenjanin, and Vrsac.

During the same time will be organized exhibition of the works by students of Serbian Art Schools, participants of the art contest “The dialog with Vasareli”. Two best contest entries will receive the awards by the Hungarian Embassy and their authors will travel to Pecuj.

Victor Vasareli (1906-1997) was one of the best representatives of the op-art in Europe during 20th century.
