The Fado Queen Misija at Kolarac

Belgrade, April 15. 2010 (Serbia Today) - A popular singer Misija, the queen of fado sound from Portugal, held an exclusive concert last night in Kolarac endowment Hall as a part of the ongoing program "The great performers from the music scene - World music", started by Center for music Kolarac. According to Mima Lazarevic, the executive director of the Center for Music Kolarac, on the promotional tour called "Ruas, Portuguese fado artist, the heiress of famous Amalia Rodrigues, will promote new double compact disc under the same name along with the group made up of Portuguese guitar, viola de fado, bass, violin and electric guitar. Misija spent her childhood in her native Porto, where she began to sing fado for the poor workers who were gathered in fado bars and later as a young girl she moved to Barcelona, where she sang in the legendary Cabarets "Parallels". After the fall of the Salazar government, fado was used as a tool for propaganda, repression and manipulation of people and reveals hostility to this music in Portugal.
